i've been cleaning out my closet for weeks now, very slowly. i hate the feeling of having so many possessions, and especially of clinging to so many memories. i took down all the boxes, made lists, brought everything out of hiding, because the only way i'll get rid of it is if it's staring me in the face. do i really need a composition book of my spelling words from the 2nd grade, or 21 pairs of socks, or, say, every letter my dad ever sent me? hm.
anyway the reason i am writing this is because i found these crystals, when i was a kid i thought they looked like dogs heads:
and i had a dream about them! that i was drawing on the edges of the crystals with sharpie markers. a teacher told her class that this was not an acceptable thing to do. that hurt. but i gathered up the crystals and stood up next to her and told the kids, some people do draw on their crystals with sharpies, it's perfectly ok. and i left the room. what a good dream.

second time a customer had me manually type in the barcodes, instead of scanning them with a laser.
!
she was irritable, so i didn't ask why. but, i am quite curious what ill effects i may soon suffer from all my years of eating laser-contaminated hummus. (it was only, um, "wet" foods she was concerned about--crackers were okay/had more packaging protection ??)
also there is this guy who, every time he comes in, aks me if i've found a husband yet and then indicates himself as being a suitable match and i sort of would like to punch him but instead i smile and laugh because that's my job.
right. it's so easy to hide.

i dont think i could ever work in a restaurant. because i like to take my time. even making the simplest things turns into a daylong activity.. (yes this is what im doing with my spring break. i havent even gone to the beach. whaaaat)
